Eating great food doesn’t always have to be expensive; in fact, there are a number of delicious and healthy meals out there that you can make for just a few pounds/dollars and a lot of them are easy to make too. Here are just a few of the most amazing, love cost meals we’ve come across:
#1 – Pizza
Pizza is not often viewed as a low cost meal these days because most takeaways and restaurants will charge quite a bit of money for this. However, pizza was originally created as a low cost meal and if you make it yourself, it remains a very cheap meal.
As well as being cheaper if you make it yourself, it is also healthier. A lot of the pre-packed pizzas or takeaway pizza’s will have additives and other unnecessary ingredients in them. All you need to make a perfect pizza is flour, water, yeast, salt & sugar, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and a topping of your choice. Usually, this can all be picked up for a few dollars and you can have a delicious pizza ready in less time than it would take to order a takeaway.

#2 – Stew
Stew’s are very popular all around the world, and once again, if you order one in a restaurant, you are going to have to fork out a substantial amount of money. However, if you’re making a stew yourself at home, it is actually usually quite cheap.
Stews are usually based around a certain meat; mainly beef for most stews. Stews are often cooked for a few hours which makes the meat really tender and delicious. The other benefit of this is that you can actually buy cheaper cuts of meat from your local butcher/supermarket as the cooking process will make the meat fall apart, even with the cheapest cuts.
#3 – Macaroni Cheese
Macaroni Cheese is a favourite all around the world, especially in the US. Again, cooking this meal doesn’t have to cost a fortune and the cooking process is also pretty simple too. Sure, it is not the healthiest meal out there but cooking it yourself is bound to be more healthy than buying an expensive, pre-packed version of the meal.
To make Macaroni Cheese, you only need a few ingredients; macaroni pasta, cheddar cheese, milk and butter. You can add extra ingredients such as an onion or garlic if you like, but even with these, it is still only going to set you back a few dollars.
Not only can cooking these low cost, delicious meals lead to a tastier, more healthy dinner, but it can also be extremely fun. Take pizza for example; the whole family can enjoy tossing the dough and watching it bake in the oven.
