In the Season 10 Top Chef Seattle Finale. Tom puts his restaurant’s reputation on the line as he opens his doors and gives the final three free rein of his kitchen.
But First things First…..The announcement of Last Chance Kitchen is….
Tom looks pretty psyched to reveal the Last Chance Kitchen winner.
Congrats Kristen!
The three finalists!
Season 10 came full circle as the chefs returned to Craft in Los Angeles for Part 1 of the season finale. A Last Chance Kitchen winner is crowned and immediately joins the two remaining chefs. Tom puts his restaurant’s reputation on the line as he opened his doors and gives the final three free rein of his kitchen to create their own menus for dinner service. The pressure is on, the stakes have never been higher, and as if the challenge wasn’t hard enough, Tom dons his apron to play expeditor in the kitchen. The two chefs left standing will go head to head in next week’s season finale to determine who will be Top Chef. John Besh and Martin Yan join judges Emeril Lagasse, Hugh Acheson, head judge Tom Colicchio, and host Padma Lakshmi.
The three remaining chefs had six months off to plan or to play? Brooke feels slightly unprepared. She didn’t spend much time in the kitchen during her six months off.
The Challenge: Create a three course meal consisting of an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert at Craft, Tom Colicchio’s restaurant.
Sheldon quotes: “We’re in Chef Tom’s house… We’ve gotta make sure his customers are happy. It’s a lot of pressure. Hopefully, I don’t set this place on fire.”
Kristen, Brooke, and Sheldon work out their respective menus.
Brooke begins with Crispy Veal Sweetbread Salad with Kumquat, Beets & Mustard.
On to the entree she made Braised Short Ribs, Parmesan Sauce, Nettle Puree & Squash Dumplings
And fr dessert she made Brown Butter Cake, Whipped Goat Cheese & Blackberry Sauce
The judges loved the flavor and Brooke again makes a homerun with the judges.
Kristen begins with a simple dish of Chestnut Veloute, Duck Rillette & Brussels Sprouts
For Kristens entree she made Seared Ahi Tuna with Veal Mustard Jus & Meyer Lemon Puree
And for dessert Curry Chocolate with Cashews
Unfortunately, her chestnut veloute didn’t wow the judges, and neither did the seared ahi tuna.
Sheldon begins with Sashimi Spot Prawns, Court Bouillon, Radish & Asian Herbs.
For Sheldon’s entree he presents Roasted Quail, Pine Nut Puree, Garam Masala & Tangerine
And for dessert White Chocolate Mousse with Apple & Fennel
While Sheldon’s appetizer dish wasn’t Filipino, he wanted to show the judges how he’s grown and developed as a chef throughout this competition.
Brooke is all smiles, even in the weeds and quotes: “Bad day to have a bad day.”
Tom expedites.
Kristen quotes: “Tom expediting is scary,” “I peed in my pants a little.”
Out in the dining room are guest judges
Chefs Besh and Yan!
The Esteemed Judges Table
The Final Decision: While the decision was hard Sheldon was asked to pack his knives and go home. And I finally get my wish that there will be two ladies going head to head in the Top Chef Finale!
“High-five!” Congrats ladies you made it to the final two!
In the Season Finale: The ladies will cook the best five dishes in their culinary arsenal live in front of a studio audience that includes their friends, families and all previous nine Top Chef winners. In the end only one will be crowned the 10th Top Chef…. Will it be Kristen orBrooke? Hugh Acheson, Emeril Lagasse, and Gail Simmons join head judge Tom Colicchio and host Padma Lakshmi.
