I’m Jessica the girl behind the blog and now the cookbook. Growing up, the kitchen was the most important room in the house. No matter what was going on, we could gather in the kitchen to eat, laugh, and enjoy being together.
I was born and raised 25 minutes from downtown New Orleans and in this part of the country; food is more than simple sustenance. Food has always been a part of my life. After Sunday mass, relatives of all ages gathered at my grandparent’s house to get together around the kitchen and fill plates and bowls with gumbo, potato salad, etouffee and jambalaya. After the eating, came the stories and hours of laughter. This is where my experience and inspiration come from. Although I have no formal culinary training, I feel I may have received the best training of all from watching my mother, grandmothers, and great-grandmother in the kitchen.
I have been very lucky to travel and introduce my palette to many wonderful and exotic flavors, but nothing excites my taste buds quite like Cajun food. Not only is Cajun food a comfort for me, but also it is fun to cook.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
I hope you enjoy the blog and the recipes….because behind every great meal, is an even better story!
I have spent the last 8 months of my life writing the Cajunlicious Cookbook, and now it’s finished!
